Year 2020

17 - 19 May –  Climamed 2020
ASHRAE Portugal Chapter and OE (Ordem dos Engenheiros) join forces to promote the Climamed 2020, the 10th HVAC Mediterranean Congress that will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from the 17th to the 19th of May 2020.

The Climamed congress is nowadays integrated in the 3 years cycle of REHVA related conferences (Clima, Climamed and Cold Climate) and is under the responsibility of a set of five HVAC associations of Southern Europe countries, that assure the membership of the respective countries in REHVA: AICARR (Associazione Italiana di Condizionamento dell'Aria, Riscaldamento e Refrigerazione), from Italy; AICVF (Association des Ingénieurs en Climatique, Ventilation et Froid), from France; ATECYR (Asociación Técnica Española de Climatización y Refrigeración), from Spain; OE (Ordem dos Engenheiros), from Portugal; and TTMD (Türk Tesisat Mühendisleri Dernegi, Turkish Society of HVAC and Sanitary Engineers), from Turkey.

Climamed 2020 will be hosted by Ordem dos Engenheiros, and will have as its motto "Towards Climate-Neutral Mediterranean Buildings and Cities”, intending to represent a meaningful contribution to the solution of the problems posed to humanity by Climate Changes. Papers related to the various topics that are related to the challenge of providing well-being to people in buildings in a sustainable way and in a scenario where resilience and adaptation will surely be required are very much welcome to the congress.

Inclusiveness will also be a major aim of the Congress organizers, which means that there is a desire and openness for participants to expand their geographical area of origin to other Mediterranean countries or to other parts of the globe with similar climates.

On behalf of the organizing Committee, we warmly invite you to join us in beautiful city of Lisbon, the 2020 Green Capital of Europe, for Climamed 2020.

20 February – ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer on Promoting HVAC
The Portugal Chapter is holding a technical session on 20 February 2020 on why it is important to promote the HVAC industry for a sustainable future.  The speaker is Pam Duffy, P.E., an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer from Texas, USA.  The DL program makes ASHRAE members selected for their knowledge and presentation skills available to ASHRAE chapters for delivery of high-interest presentations.

Ms. Duffy is well-known for bringing new HVAC products to life. She is an experienced product manager who has been responsible for strategic direction, product roadmaps, new product development, launches and sunsets, and ongoing product category support.

Ms. Duffy will talk about how the work HVAC engineers do every day plays a critical role in the future of our planet.  Most importantly, she describe what engineers can do to generate more awareness of their contributions.  Creating awareness will result in more qualified job candidates, faster product innovation, and better research. Her message:  Promoting the industry is good for business.
